Sometimes Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community Transport may organise for your transport service to be provided by a Taxi.
If your Community Transport service is to be provided by Taxi someone from Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community Transport will ring and let you know before you travel. Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community Transport will need to know the exact address of your destination so that the Taxi driver knows where to take you, and to collect you from, for the trip home.
Before the Taxi Trip
Make sure you put the purple and yellow “Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community Transport Card” that came with this brochure into your wallet. You will need this card on the day of the Taxi trip to get home.
Taxi Pick-up from your Home
Wait inside for the Taxi, and stay by the telephone in case the Taxi driver needs to contact you. The driver will come to your door and collect you when they arrive at your home.
The Driver will have instructions from Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community Transport on where you are being taken to.
When you arrive at your destination you will need to pay the Taxi driver
- $10.00 for a trip to a destination within Hornsby Ku-ring-gai
- $15.00 for a trip to a destination outside Hornsby Ku-ring-gai
Hornsby Ku-ring-gai will pay the rest of the Taxi fare for you.
Returning Home By Taxi
When you are ready to return home you must ring the number on the back of the purple and vellow “Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community Transport Card” to request a Taxi. You will only need to provide your name to the Telephone Operator – they will know where you are to be collected from.
When the Taxi arrives only get into it if the driver asks for you by name. If you get into the wrong Taxi you will have to pay the full fare. If you are unsure check with the Driver and show your purple and yellow “Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community Transport Card”.
On arrival at your home you do not have to pay a fare to the Taxi Driver. Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community Transport will pay the Taxi fare for the return journey to your home.
Important Information
- You may travel in the Taxi with a Carer.
- You can only use the number on the purple and yellow card to call for a Taxi to return home if Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community Transport booked your original Taxi trip from home.
- If you get into the wrong taxi to return home you will have to pay the full fare
- Make sure you have the purple and yellow “Hornsby Community Transport Card” with you – it has the number you need to call to get a Taxi home that has been authorized by Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community Transport.
